Ginny's photography interest started in high school when she was awarded the Photo Student of the Year Award. She was granted the opportunity to participate in the Kodak Cooperative Education program from 1988 to 1989, through which she learned a great deal about the aesthetics, presentation, and technical processes of photography. She continued her studies at Monroe Community College where she majored in Visual Communications. She freelanced for a few years, traveling all over the United States taking portraits, sports, and candid photos for college and university yearbooks. Although she loved traveling, she decided to return to Rochester to be with her family. Since then she has worked in a few different studios across the Rochester area, until obtaining a position at Rochester Institute of Technology, where she still is today.
